Long weekend in Kent

Friday 18th April — Monday 21st April 2025

Friday

We went for a walk from Wye along the North Downs Way.

The walk started from a church yard.

We passed large rape fields in fine weather.

We encountered a type of gate new to us.

We walked passed the Devil’s Kneading Trough and as far as Fish Pond’s Bottom.

The day ended at The Tickled Trout pub in Wye.

Saturday

In Canturbury, we went to the Roman museum and saw the cathedral.

Afterwards we visited Whitstable – a rather nice seaside town. We tried oysters. They’re not the most appetising to look at, although the taste wasn’t too bad.

Sunday

We drove past the industrial areas and prison to the Isle of Sheppey! There’s a RSPB nature reserve at the bottom of the island, where we went for a walk.

Monday

On the last day of the four day weekend, we drove home via Horniman Museum and Gardens in south London.
